Geek Media Expo!!!!

Well that's right today was the big geek media expo, and me and the fam went down to get some awesome coverage for everyone. We were able to get alot of pictures and some awesome interviews that will be featured on the podcast!!
It was alot of fun.. Didn't realy know what half the people were dressed up as but thats ok..

New Picture and a Shitty Car

Alright so this is just something I threw together the other night as a head shot for  TheShoeman tell me what you think of that.
Today I got really worried because I was having a lot of trouble with my car. My car is a 1997 Subaru Outback Sport. I bought it for very cheap just to be transportation for me for a little  while plus I didn't want to have a car payment. Well today when I dropped my daughter off at daycare the car was smoking and I was able to make it the rest of the way to work with no problems. Well after work I headed to the nearest part store that was along my route and the temperature shoot up  past the hottest mark on there and I thought for a while that the thing was going to explode.
Luckily I was able to make it home and after a few calls to my brother to make sure that my hunches were right about what was wrong and to get some extra pointers I tackled the job of replacing the thermostat. I really could have used some jack stands because it was hard to get my big dome under that small car. It made me miss my jeep once again...............................<-- Moment of Silence
Well after getting covered in coolant and getting quite a bit of it in my eyes I was able to finish the job and it was just the fix I needed. Thank God it was just a $20 part and not something more serious!

ShoeNews Weekly Video Cast

Your Days are Numbered.....

So today started out great and then we went to the Animal Shelter here in Clarksville Tn and it got a lot worse. As you know we volunteer with the Humane Society as much as we can and today we decided to go to the animal control and make a blog and kinda showcase some of the dogs that were there. We talked with the director who is a very nice lady who is doing all she can to keep these poor dogs alive as long as possible but the shelter is so overcrowded that the dogs days are short.... How Short? Well a stray dog only has 3 days to be able to find a home and an owner surrender only has one. So the sweet black dog pictured above only has one day from today to find a home or risk execution.
It is really hard for the staff there whose hands are tied by this city run organization. The director would really like to have this shelter below capacity so that no animal would have to be put down.
Well there are a few problems that are keeping this from happening. Number one is irresponsible pet ownership. People who are stupid and do not get there dog spayed or neutered. You may argue that it is expensive but there are local programs here and across the country that are low-cost or no-cost. Plain and simple if you can't afford it then don't get a dog.
This city is so over run with strays it is crazy. In Puyallup Washington where we are from the animal control had 3 dogs people were more responsible and pets were safe.
The second thing that is hurting the animal control here is that there is not a no-kill shelter option. The Humane Society is privately funded and relies solely on fosters to keep dogs out of the shelter. This greatly limits the number of dogs that they are able to save. They are currently working on building there own low-cost spay and neuter clinic as well as a physical shelter.
It is hard for me to see dogs that I know would not be alive come next week especially since they were all amazing and lovable. I think most men have a soft spot for our furry friends. Dogs love you on conditionally and don't nag when you screw up. They are mans best friend so we should be their best friend to. I strongly urge you to get to your local animal control and adopt.  

Small World

So this world we live in is very small.. A little back story first. I grew up in rural Colorado in a very small town and went to a very small elementary school called Hudson Elementary. I lived there from 3rd until 8th grade when I moved up to Washington. The past 9 years with the exception of last year I lived in Washington and went to High School and some College there.
Well Now that i am in the Military I was forced to relocate to Ft. Campbell Kentucky where I currently reside. A while back while I was deployed I was looking for people I was once in elementary school when I stumbled across someone who had something very similar on there profile to mine the old Strike emblem.
Well today while I was working out in the gym I talked to the guy who is actually standing next to me in this picture. It had been about 9 years since I had seen this person and not only were we in the same unit we are in the same brigade.. It is so weird to have a blast from the past. No Alcohol

So quick post today about something that I thought was hilarious. I am a new parent and I am learning everything while I go along and It amazes me how easy it really is. Yeah there are sleepless nights  and crying and poop but in reality it is not all that hard to just be the one who is responsible for a little tiny life. 

I guess this is why it amazes me that some people can be such shitty parents and not take care of there kids. The type of people who let their kids drink anti-freeze or use the internet. 

Well the reason I thought of this is because the bottle of BABY Benedryl  had that little tiny label on it that said " Do not consume Alcoholic Beverages with this medication". I have always wondered what was taking her so long to learn to walk.. She looks so Wobbly. I guess now I know..

If you don't like Peanut Butter Rice Crispie Treats you are Un- American

You would think after listening to this weeks show that peanut butter would be the last thing that I would want, but I have been wanting a batch of some delicious peanut butter rice crispie treats ever since I was deployed to Afghanistan and someone told me they were going to send me some. Well I never got them and Last night I decided that enough was enough and luckily I had everything I needed in the cupboards to make my treats hope you enjoy this video blog and this will be one of many more cooking blogs as I love to cook!

Humane Society

On Saturday the wife and I along with the pooches and the baby went and volunteered at the dog daze at the market at the humane society booth. My wife worked hard the night before making tons of homemade dog cookies and even some dog cinnamon rolls. I worked at the booth on Saturday and made some balloon animals for the kids which helped to draw a crowd and helped to get people over to look at the fosters.

There are so many great dogs available for adoption it is a good idea to go check out your local humane society or shelter and save a life. Also get you Damn dog fixed. Bob Barker said it everyday and it would make for way less dogs in our shelters if you just got our pet spayed or neutered.

WTF is with two faces

I guess it is time for two faced everything. I swear ever since I found that baby that I referenced on this weeks show no I am being haunted by the things. This cat is actually the world record holder for the longest living two faced cat. What does that mean? That means THERE ARE OTHER TWO FACED CATS OUT THERE! I don't know about you but if I came face to face to face with a two faced anything I think I would drop one in my pants right there.
This cat has one brain which controls both faces in unison which I think ups the creepy factor!

Conjunctivitis!

So I spent yesterday tending to my sick little baby girl who has not been feeling well. She is losing her little voice and didn't want dad to set her down for more than a second. She is cute sick but it also breaks your little heart
Well she has also been passing on all these germs she has been getting from daycare onto me which have beeen making me sick. Last night I begen to have an itching in my eye like I had something stuck in it. My wife said I think you have "pink eye". I tried to tell her not to put that vodoo on me and but she did anyway.
This morning I woke up with my left eye crusted shut. Yep I had the conjunctivitis. I went to sick call and saw optometry this morning and they confirmed it. And I got it in both eyes.... What a great start to the day. Now its time to do my chores I have been neglecting so my wife is happy when she gets home..

Shit up to the Shoulder Blades

So after I woke up with my little baby girl it was time for a diaper change. Momma had told me before she left for school that Maddie was stinky but my nose was plugged so I couldn't smell the warnings. Well I took her in to change that diaper took her little pants of and then undid her onsie and then I felt something that kinda felt like peanut butter on her back! I took a look at my hands and yep! poop! Her pants hid the fact that her diaper had leaked and that her onesie was covered!
But on a good note I did fix my self a delicious scrambled egg and cheese sandwich.

UNDEROOS!!!

Well last episode of Torbulation I mentioned a naked protest in San Francisco, well today I was fortunate enough to stumble across this!
Well we all know that the state of Utah is a little bit modest and well uptight. On Saturday September 24th some Utahans set out to change that and the underwear run happened! Check out the video hear and I think we should all run in our underroos.. Some people should make sure theirs are a little more supportive!

Now Blogging

What is up world this is my first time on the new The Shoeman blog. Once again some douche has already taken TheShoeman which really ticks me off. 
Anyway last night we finished up episode 3 of the Torbulation podcast and it turned out better each show is getting progressively better as we start to work out the bugs. After listining to the cast in my car this morining i realize I need a better mic. Shoe News is really taking shape and if you follow this blog I will start to compile stories here for you to read throughout the week and then I will recap them on the show each Sunday.
My tasks for today were to drop my daughter at daycare.. lounge around watch t.v. on my day off and then get to work on my chores, hopefully I will get something accomplished.
